366 Days of Gratitude and Good Things: Day 82

Today was…interesting. In the same sense as the reputed Chinese curse, “May you live in interesting times.” Today I could have used much more boring, frankly. I feel more than a little wrung out, in more dragged-backward-through-thorn-bushes.

Don’t much like it. On the plus side, though, it isn’t a case of my having done anything wrong. I have a feeling I shouldn’t say much about it in case there ends up being some sort of legal action, but y’all know I do accounting, so I’m sure you can imagine a number of possible explanations. A comment to the effect that someone somewhere along the line developed a case of sticky fingers — not anyone in-house, it’s external, but still.

Also, after my rainy commute, I left my awesome hot-pink collapsible umbrella tucked in the trash can at my desk so it could drip onto plastic rather than the carpet. I realized this when I was halfway home. So either housekeeping will assume the umbrella is broken and dump it, or will “dump” it when in actual fact they’ll figure out it’s not broken and keep it…or it will still be there when I get to work in the morning. I’m hoping for the latter, of course, because it really is a very nice umbrella and I don’t really want to have to buy a new one.

If I were saying this on the site of Tweeting, I’d have to hashtag it firstworldproblems, because it so very much is.

All in all, a wee bit too much excitement of a not-fun sort hitting just when I’m feeling better, means I’m short on brain cells (stuff it  😉  ) and about to fall asleep. But I didn’t want to fall another day behind. And I promise I’ll get all caught up over the weekend.

In the meantime, I’m grateful that when the potential-sticky-fingers situation presented itself, nothing came crashing down on me personally.  🙂
